Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and Klavs Buss ("we", "us") about using Maze: the iPhone and Android apps and the web app at https://app.ridemaze.com. By using Maze you accept them. If you don't accept them, please don't use Maze.
Maze suggests; you decide. Routes, speed limits, road surfaces, hazards and travel times come from map data and from other riders, and they are sometimes wrong or out of date. Obey the signs on the road, not the number on the screen. Ride only where it is legal and safe for you and your vehicle, and don't handle your phone while riding.
1. What Maze is
Maze plans motorcycle routes, shows maps and speed limits, helps you follow a route and records your rides. We may add, change or remove features. Some of them need an internet connection.
2. Riding safely is your responsibility
- What Maze shows is information to help you plan, not an instruction. A suggested road may be closed, private, unpaved, flooded, under construction or not allowed for your vehicle. You decide whether to ride it.
- Speed limits come from OpenStreetMap and from each country's general limits. Many roads have no signed limit in the map data; for those, Maze shows the usual limit for that kind of road, marked with "~". Seasonal and time-of-day limits are shown as well as we know them. The sign on the road always wins.
- Travel times and distances are estimates.
- Set the route up before you ride off. Mount the phone securely, and don't let it take your attention off the road. In many countries it is against the law to hold or use a phone while riding.
- You are responsible for how you ride, and for your vehicle, licence and insurance. You are also responsible for following the traffic law where you ride.
3. Your account
You can use Maze without an account. If you create one, use an email address you can read, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You must be at least 16 to create an account.
4. What you add
Points you save are shown to every Maze user on the map. That covers road marks (gravel, a pothole, a view), likes and the notes you write on them. They appear without your name or email. You keep whatever rights you have in them. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store them, show them to other users and use them to improve routes and road information, for as long as they exist. If you delete a point, it is gone. If you delete your account, the points you shared stay on the map, under an account number with no email or name. The privacy policy explains the details.
Don't add anything unlawful, insulting or deliberately misleading, and don't add other people's personal information. We may remove points and notes that break these rules.
5. Fair use
- Use Maze for your own riding. Don't resell it, copy large parts of its data or scrape it.
- Don't try to break or overload Maze or its servers, get around its security or get at other people's data.
- Don't use scripts or bots to request routes or data.
6. Maps and data from others
Map and road data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. Elevation data comes from the open Terrain Tiles dataset, which includes SRTM and Copernicus EU-DEM data. Those datasets keep their own licences.
7. Availability
We work to keep Maze running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We also can't promise its data is complete or current. Downloaded maps age until you update them. We may change or stop parts of Maze. If we stop it altogether, we will say so in advance where we reasonably can.
8. Liability
Maze is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. We are also not liable for loss caused by wrong or missing map, route or speed-limit data, or for decisions you make while riding. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence and for intent or gross negligence. Your rights as a consumer under the law of the country you live in also stay.
9. Stopping
You can stop using Maze at any time, and delete your data as the privacy policy describes. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or puts the service or other riders at risk.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change matters, we will give notice before it takes effect. If you keep using Maze after that, you accept the new terms.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Latvia. If you use Maze as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you can take a dispute to the courts there.
